Chief's Report April 6, 2006

1.      ISO status. We’re down to one leaky valve on Pumper 963.  The engine overhaul for Tanker 982 is complete but there are some brake upgrades that have to be made.

2.      Runs/pageouts see summary on Chief's report page

3.      The consensus of experts is that we are going to have a dry summer.  This increases the probability for a lot of wildfires.  Our recent training sessions have been geared to this and we are making sure that our equipment is in good working order.

4.      Service Truck project.  We are continuing to equip the service truck.  With its 20,000 lb. Winch, we can use this truck as a recovery vehicle for broken-down apparatus.

5.      The Colorado Wildfire Academy is in Cortez in June.  Three of our volunteers have applied.  Acceptance notices will be sent out later this month.

6.      EMT Class.  We will be receiving a mini-grant of $ 2,500 from the County RETAC funds for this course with the stipulation that we obtain commitments from the students.

7.      The deadline for applications for the gaming impact grants is May 15.  Our current plan is to apply for a used CAFS pumper.
